The Flying Scotsman - Saturday 24th July 2021...

A treat is in store for us all this weekend. The The Flying Scotsman passes through Wetheral ~ 4pm as it journeys from Carlisle to Newcastle. Imagine those photographic images from Great Corby Bridge (i.e. 'Wetheral Viaduct') you can capture!

The steam train arrives in Carlisle after travelling along the Eden Valley on the Settle line.

Corby Bridge (popularly known as Wetheral Viaduct) is a Grade I listed viaduct built between 1830 and 1834, by the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway Co.

It is 200m long with five spans and four piers. Tolls were a halfpenny each way
