Betty Bowley



Many of your will already know that our lovely friend and courtyard neighbour died in January 2018.
 In retirement from Leicestershire, Betty and her late husband Ken came to live at No 7, The Courtyard in the autumn of 1993. Being both extrovert, kind and fun they soon settled into life in Broadwath.

They were both keen gardeners and became stalwarts of the Viaduct Gardening Club. Ken was a past chairman and Betty was for many years the Outings' Organiser.

As an ex naval service man Ken was a member of the Royal British Legion and was our local 'poppy man'.

    I knew Ken and Betty for 17 years first in Leicestershire then in Cumbria. Wonderful kind people, I grew extremely fond of both. Circumstances took us along different pathways eventually, but I am honoured to have known them
